Compliance document checklist for importers

The right document set depends on the product and applicable rules. This checklist helps importers organize common records before testing, certificate preparation, and customs entry.

Product definition

• Product name, model, SKU, and variants
• Intended age, users, and use
• Specifications, dimensions, and photographs
• Bill of materials and component list
• Packaging, instructions, warnings, and label artwork

Supplier and manufacturing records

• Supplier legal and contact information
• Finished-product factory name and address
• Manufacturing dates and production identifiers
• Component supplier and material declarations
• Change history for design, process, sourcing, and factory

Applicability records

• Product classification and reasoning
• Applicable and not-applicable rule decisions
• Rule citations and rule-pack version
• Reviewer questions, overrides, and rationale

Testing evidence

• Complete laboratory reports and appendices
• Tested-sample identity and photographs
• Test dates, locations, methods, and results
• Laboratory facility details
• Evidence of facility-specific CPSC scope verification
• Gap, conflict, failure, and remediation records

Certificate records

• CPC or GCC data and version
• Certifier and records-custodian details
• Manufacturing and testing information
• Authorized-representative approval
• Distribution and supersession history

eFiling and entry handoff

• Full PGA certificate data or Product Registry identifiers
• Product-to-entry-line mapping
• Broker package and export version
• Transmission, reject, correction, and ACE response records

Review document quality

For each record, ask which exact product, factory, production period, and requirement it covers. Confirm the source, date, version, language, completeness, and reviewer. A filename alone is not reliable evidence lineage.
