AI test report extraction for compliance teams
Laboratory reports can be long, inconsistent, scanned, and difficult to compare. AI extraction can accelerate review by locating product identifiers, laboratories, dates, methods, results, and citations. It should not convert a report into an automatic legal conclusion.
Useful extraction targets
- Report number and revision
- Product name, model, SKU, and sample description
- Applicant, supplier, and factory details
- Laboratory facility and testing dates
- Standards, sections, and methods
- Results, observations, and limitations
- Photographs and relevant page locations
Preserve provenance
Every extracted field should retain the source document, page or region, extraction time, model or process version, and confidence. Reviewers need to see the original context and correct errors without losing history.
Separate extraction from decisions
AI may read a statement accurately while the statement itself is insufficient for certification. It may also miss a table note, confuse applicant and manufacturer, or treat a product-family reference as an exact match.
Use deterministic rules for applicability and required-field checks. Use qualified humans for ambiguous product classification, evidence acceptance, overrides, and certificate approval.
Protect tenant and product data
Scope document access and retrieval indexes by tenant and product. Do not let a supplier, laboratory, or reviewer search unrelated customer records. Log access, extraction decisions, corrections, and exceptional access.
Measure extraction quality
Track field-level accuracy, reviewer correction rates, false confidence, missing-page errors, and time saved. High aggregate accuracy should not hide mistakes in critical fields such as product identity or rule citations.
