Children's product test report review checklist

A passing label on a test report is not enough to support certification. Importers should verify that the complete report covers the right product, applicable requirements, testing facility, and production context.

Product identity

Report integrity

Requirements and methods

Map each applicable rule to the report section, method, result, and page. Check that the standard version and cited provisions are appropriate. A broad conclusion may not show that every applicable section was evaluated.

For children's product testing, verify the laboratory facility's CPSC-accepted scope for each relevant rule. Preserve evidence of the scope check.

Conflicts and gaps

Compare the report with the bill of materials, product specification, factory record, label artwork, and prior reports. Escalate mismatched model numbers, unexplained material changes, missing tests, altered photographs, or inconsistent dates.

Approval and reuse

Record who reviewed the report, any supplier explanation, and the final decision for each requirement. Before reusing a report, determine whether design, materials, component sourcing, process, factory, or applicable rules have changed.

ComplyMyImport can extract report fields with page references and confidence, but extracted data remains subject to deterministic checks and human review. A report does not automatically approve a product or issue a certificate.
